Allie Webb broke the discus record at Truman High School Tuesday, April 22 during the Independence City Champs meet. Webb threw 133’8 and broke Penny Waggonner’s 1981 record of 133’3.

Van Horn High School Falcons and William Chrisman Bears get a Major League Experience

Van Horn High School and William Chrisman High School faced off against one another at 4 p.m on April 12, 2014.
It was certainly a special occasion and not your typical game. Both Independence teams had the chance to play on the Royals’ home field.
The teams had to sell at least 1,000 tickets to a Royals game to get the chance to play in the High School Baseball Classic.

Make sure that you mark Saturday, March 8th on your calendar as THE DAY to kick start your family's health and wellness! The Independence School District and Independence Health Department will be partnering with numerous organizations to bring you a series of Wellness and Health Expos that will provide FREE health/wellness information, health/wellness screenings, an opportunity to talk with local physicians, and MUCH MUCH more for you and your whole family!

The next event will take place at Van Horn High School from 9 AM to noon on Saturday, March 8.
